Happy New Year and all things musical for 2025.

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy New Year! I hope the school holidays have been treating you well, whether you've been basking in the sunshine, binge-watching TV, or trying to keep the kids entertained without losing your sanity.

As we step into 2025, I’m slowly but surely organizing my studio (emphasis on slowly) and preparing for another wonderful year of music lessons. With a full studio and a new teaching schedule that includes working at another location on Mondays and Fridays, there are a few challenges ahead. But don’t worry—we’ll make it work, even if it takes a few scheduling gymnastics!

Lesson Scheduling

For those of you already attending lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, your lesson times will stay the same as last year. I do have a couple of spots that have opened up, so if you’ve been secretly dreaming of a slightly earlier or later slot, now’s your chance—get in touch!

For students with Monday and Friday lessons, we’ll need to reassess. I’ll be reaching out to discuss whether we can keep your lessons on these days or move them to the other three. Rest assured, we’ll find a solution that works for everyone. Just keep your phones handy—I promise not to call at midnight.

Term Dates

Now, grab your calendars! This year, I’ve decided to stick to Victoria School Term dates for simplicity (and my own sanity). Here are the music term dates for 2025:

  • Term 1: Starts the week of 27 January and ends 5 April.

  • Term 2: Starts 21 April and ends 4 July.

  • Term 3: Starts 21 July and ends 19 September.

  • Term 4: Starts 6 October and ends 12 December.

Exam Dates

If you’re preparing for AMEB exams, here are the key dates to note:

  • Video Exams: Available from 1 April to 27 November 2025.

  • Online Theory Exams: Open from 3 January to 30 December 2025.

  • Written Theory Exams: Scheduled for Wednesday 10 September at Hawthorn Studios.

Lesson Pricing for 2025

Now for the money talk—gulp. Due to rising costs (and the fact that coffee prices keep climbing), lesson prices will increase slightly this year. But I’m committed to making sure your lessons are packed with value! Here’s the breakdown:

  • 30-minute lessons (beginner students): $33 per lesson.

  • 30-minute lessons (exam students, including theory materials): $35 per lesson.

  • 60-minute lessons (includes theory materials as needed): $64 per lesson.

As always, you’ll only pay for the lessons you attend. Flexibility and fairness—that’s how we roll here.

Thank You

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm as we kick off another year of music-making. It’s an absolute joy to teach such wonderful students and work with such supportive parents. I can’t wait to see you all back in the studio, ready to make 2025 a year filled with melodies, rhythms, and maybe a few laughs along the way.

Warm regards,

Elzna
